METHOD FOR GENERATING-THREE DIMENSIONAL DRAWING FROM SHEET METAL CAD DRAWING AND STORAGE MEDIUM STORED WITH PROGRAM THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which can generate a three-dimensional drawing automatically from a two-dimensional development drawing without any operator's intervention. ;SOLUTION: Minimum closed areas (A, B, a, b, c, and d) of three plans (elevation, side elevation, and plan view) are extracted first and the thickness of a sheet metal is predicted based on their information. The value of the plate thickness is used to extract edge segments representing edges. It is considered thereafter that a minimum closed area represents the shape of solid surfaces and the edge segments represents the positions of the solid surfaces, and the minimum closed area and edge segments are matched (surface area matching) to generate solid surfaces.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
