PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the total machining efficiency of a work by effectively utilizing the torque of a servo motor which drives the feed shaft and shortening the time needed for positioning. ;SOLUTION: A horizontal feed shaft is driven by a servo motor 23. A time constant setting means sets an acceleration time constant and a deceleration time constant individually so that the servo motor 23 outputs its maximum torque at the time of acceleration and deceleration when a command for positioning the feed shaft at a target position is sent from an NC device to a shaft control circuit 21 of a servo mechanism 20 and the feed shaft is accelerated or decelerated toward the target position. Even for a vertical feed shaft, the time constant setting means sets time constants of ascent acceleration and ascent deceleration, and descent acceleration and descent deceleration individually so that the servo motor 23 outputs its maximum torque at the time of ascent acceleration and ascent deceleration, and descent acceleration and descent deceleration.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
