PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy saving type fluorescent lamp instrument by which a bulb is lighted by a loss of a choke coil after the fluorescent lamp is lighted and illumination effect is increased with the same electric power. SOLUTION: A fluorescent lamp and a bulb are simultaneously illuminated by switching a choke coil circuit over to a bulb circuit after lighting the fluorescent lamp by using a string switch for 3 step switching. Since an ON/OFF string switch 7 for a glow starter circuit and a string change over switch for a ballast circuit are combined to one string, the fluorescent lamp is not lighted unless the string switch is pulled 4 times. If it is pulled one more time, the fluorescent lamp and the bulb are simultaneously lighted.
