PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject copolymer without lowering transparency, suitable as a material for improving impact resistance, etc., of vinyl chloride-based resins and prescribed thermoplastic resins. ;SOLUTION: (A) A monomer mixture comprising (i) 50-99.999 wt.% styrene, 0-45 wt.% either one of (ii) a 1-8C (meth)acrylate and (iii) a vinyl cyanide compound and (iv) 0.001-5 wt.% polyfunctional monomer is compounded and subjected to emulsion polymerization to afford (B) a copolymer having ≥0°C glass transition temperature (hereinafter referred to as Tg) and a monomer mixture comprising (C) 95-99.999 wt.% component (ii) and 0.001-5 wt.% component (iv) is compounded and subjected to emulsion polymerization in the presence of the component B to afford (D) a copolymer having ≥0°C Tg and (E) a monomer mixture comprising 20-99.999 wt.% component (i), 0-30 wt.% either one of the component (ii) and the component (iii) is compounded and subjected to emulsion polymerization in the presence of the component D to afford (F) a copolymer having ≥0°C Tg and 1.51-1.60 refractive index and (G) a monomer mixture comprising 60-85 wt.% component (i), 15-40 wt.% component (iii), 0-15 wt.% component (ii) and 0.001-10 wt.% component (iv) is compounded and subjected to emulsion polymerization in the presence of the component F to afford (H) a copolymer and a monomer mixture comprising 60-90 wt.% component (i), 10-35 wt.% component (iii) and 0-30 wt.% component (ii) is compounded and subjected to emulsion polymerization in the presence of the component H.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
