PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent operation from becoming impossible at driving by relatively low voltage by detecting the load of an induction motor or a linear motor, or the loading load of an elevator driven by them, and changing a drive electric power device according to the detected result. ;SOLUTION: At service interruption, a motor is driven by batterires 1, 2 of relatively low voltage, but at this time, power is supplied to a converter 19 by the batteries 1, 2 through relay contactors A, B to drive a linear motor 21. Power supply voltage is impressed on respective circuits 24-28 concerning operation control of an elevator by an inverter 32 for battery and a rectifying circuit 23 through a relay contactor C. In this case, in addition to looking for the maximum thrust at operating from the output of a load detecting circuit 28 and the operating direction, slip frequency is looked for, the relays A-C are ON-controlled according to the magnitude of primary voltage decided from the slip frequency, a speed command value, and the like, and the electric power source is switched to either of the battery 1 only or joint use of the batteries 1, 2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
