PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic sensor, easily capable of detecting magnetic characteristics of magnetic material, and a device for determination of magnetic characteristic of magnetic material using the magnetic sensor. ;SOLUTION: In this magnetic sensor, an excitation coil 2, a detection coil, and a compensation coil 4 are wound respectively around upper parts of a center arm, one of two outer arms, and the other outer arm of a magnetic core 1 of soft magnetic material, having an E-shaped cross section, a guide pass for guide run of a detection subject magnetic body is formed to bridge an end part of the center arm with an end part of the outer arm around which the detection coil is wound, a magnetic member for comparison of known magnetic characteristics is provided to be positioned along the guide pass at a bridging part, and when the detection subject magnetic body runs on the guide pass, detection output indicating its magnetic characteristics is obtained from the detection coil. Detection output from the detection subject magnetic body is compared with the detection output from the magnetic member for comparison to measure the magnetic characteristics of the former.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
