PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drive a shield boring machine at a branch line in right or left direction within the shield boring machine at a branch point in a tunnel on the main line. ;SOLUTION: This shield boring machine 1 for the main line has a cutter disk 5, front drum 2, middle drum 3, rear drum 4, an inner drum member 23 inside the middle and rear drums 3, 4, front side shield jack 7, rear side shield jack 8, and other auxiliary apparatuses. At the right and left side portions of the inner side drum member 23, sealed portions 3 for branch boring are formed, which can be excavated by branch line shield boring machine and withstands muddy water pressure from the ground. At the front end portion of the rear drum 4, a notch portion for opening the outer side of the right and left drive sealed portions 31 is formed, the front drum 2 and middle drum 3 are separated and advanced relative to the rear drum 4 and the inner side drum member 23 at the branch point, the outer side of the sealed portion 31 for right and left branch driving is opened, and the shield boring machines for branch lines are sequentially driven.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
