MANUFACTURE OF HIGH DENSITY GREEN COMPACT, AND HIGH DENSITY GREEN COMPACT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high density green compact of complicated shape with excellent productivity and excellent accuracy even when it is formed of a metal difficult for plastic deformation by preheating a die to a forming temperature, and filling the metal powder into the die, and pressurizing and releasing it at the temperature. ;SOLUTION: A die is preheated to a forming temperature of approximately 600-800°C preferably ≥600°C, in particular. Under the condition that the die is maintained at the forming temperature, the metal powder, in particular, the metal powder difficult for plastic deformation having ≥400 Vickers hardness at a room temperature, is filled in the die, formed, and released. Preferably the release is achieved by increasing the filling efficiency to increase the density by improving the slip between metal powders by mixing the lubricant such as BN and carbon black in the metal powder, and also preferably achieved under the pressure of approximately 0.2-12 ton/cm². The green compact of high density of ≥6 g/cm³ in density can be manufactured within 10-40 seconds.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
