PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excitation medium gas for gas laser beams for cutting a thick steel product which is more than 20 mm thick in a satisfactory state, and a gas laser steel product cutter using this. SOLUTION: Excitation medium gas E sealed in a discharging tube 2, and allowed to circulate in a blower 3 so as to be cooled through a heat exchanger 4 is excited by impressing and discharging a high voltage with prescribed frequencies to electrodes 6 and 7 by a power source 5 for oscillation, and the optical resonation of excited lights is operated between a total reflecting mirror 8 and a partial transmitting mirror 9 in the discharging tube 2 so that laser beams can be generated.
