PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic write head capable of improving NLTS (nonlinear transition shift), OVW(overwrite) and pulse width by means of yokes, magnetic poles and magnetic pole pieces or yoke-magnetic flux-tube design to generate high gap magnetic flux density Bg in a write gap of the head and to bring at the same time a very flat saturation area in a characteristic curve of Bg to Iw (write current) of the head. ;SOLUTION: In a magnetic head 120, the width and the cross-sectional area of an upper magnetic pole piece 122 are reduced in some steps and this is attained by providing a 1st wide tapered zone 141 whose width is gradually decreased at a 1st rate determined by a side surface 121 inclined at an angle of about 45 to 55 degrees and a 2nd narrow tapered zone 142 whose width is gradually decreased at a 2nd slower rate determined by a side surface 221 inclined at an angle of about 5 degrees.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
