PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system in which a user can easily operate the remote maintenance of an MFP connected with a computer. ;SOLUTION: Plural script files for maintenance limited to one or limited kinds of equipment are prepared at a service base point, and provided for each object on any file providing means 5, for example, the WEB of an internet 5a or a personal computer communication network 5b. A user down-loads the script file necessary for the user on a computer 3, executes an application for maintenance on the computer 3, reads a script file down-loaded to an MFP 1 connected with the computer 3, and executes a maintenance work. Thus, a maintenance work such as each kind of setting or remote diagnosis related with the MFP 1 connected with the computer 3 can be easily executed through each kind of file providing means 5 by the user.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
