PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distribution multimedia server device that requires no synchronization with other server module with an excellent operating efficiency of a terminal side network and to realize the access method that copses flexibly with the case that number of connection terminals is increased, a storage server module or a storage device is extended with less deterioration in the performance. ;SOLUTION: The device is provided with a plurality of communication server modules 311-31M that conduct communication with terminals, a plurality of storage server modules 321-332N that store multimedia information, and an inter-server-module network 33 that attains communication between an optional communication server module and an optional storage server module. The communication server modules 311-31M connection to an object terminal making multimedia information distribution and deliver sequentially a segment of a plurality of multimedia information sets transferred from a plurality of the storage server modules via the inter-server-module network 33 so as to avoid interruption of reproduction by a terminal.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
