PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide powder for continuously casting a steel which can prevent the development of longitudinal crack on the surface of a cast slab because the powder has the sufficient slow cooling effect of the solidified shell and the development of retained flaw and restraining breakout because the sufficient lubrication between a mold and the solidified shell is obtd., and a continuous casting method. ;SOLUTION: This method uses the powder for continuous casting, having 800-1200°C solidified temp. and 0.8-1.6 CaO/SiO₂ and containing 1-15% apatite. Further, the apatite content can be adjusted to 1-15% by mixing the apetite and the general used powder for continuous casting substantially containing no apatite.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
