EASILY WATER-DISPERSIBLE CARBON BLACK AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carbon black which easily disperses onto water, can keep the dispersion state for a long time, and hence has an excellent dispersion property, and to provide a method for producing the carbon black. ;SOLUTION: This carbon black is obtained by the ozone oxidation of carbon black so that its surface has 1.0 μeq/m² or more of functional groups followed by the wet oxidation/modification using a salt of a hydrogen halide and an acid or a salt of persulfuric acid as oxidizing agent(s). The resulting carbon black has 3 μeq/m² or more of carboxyl and hydroxyl groups among hydrogen- containing groups present in its surface.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
