PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a path switch in a wavelength unit by providing a switching means for selectively supplying the signal light of a prescribed wavelength from the wavelength separation means of a present use system and a stand-by system for one of a wavelength multiplexing means of the present use system and the stand-by system. ;SOLUTION: Signal light transmitted from the optical fiber cable 30a of a present use line 30 is divided into respective wavelength λ1 to λn by a wavelength separation device to be supplied for the optical input ports X0 of respective present use/stand-by switching circuits 48-1 to 48-n corresponding to the respective wavelength λ1 to λn. The circuits 48-1 to 48-n are provided with optical input ports X0 to X3 and optical output ports Y0 to Y3 to switch present use lines 30, 34 and stand-by lines 32 and 36 concerning the signal light of the respective wavelength λ1 to λn. The signal light of the wavelength λ1 to λn outputted from the optical output port Y0 of the circuits 48-1 to 48-n is wavelength-multiplexed by a wavelength multiplexer 52a and sent to the optical fiber cable 34a of a present use line 34.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
