PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a lock hopper system for upper and lower stage burners commonly usable without increasing the number of branches of coal conveying lines from distributors. ;SOLUTION: This coal feeder for a pneumatic flow coal gasifying furnace is obtained by connecting coal conveying lines 29 and 29' or coal conveying lines 30 and 30' to each of upper stage burners 6 and 6' lower stage burners 7 and 7' attached to a gasifying chamber 2 and installing a lock hopper system composed of at least a rotary feeder 12 for communicating with the respective coal conveying lines 29 and 29' or the coal conveying lines 30 and 30'. In this case, the lock hopper system is composed of one line of a bag filter 8, an atmospheric pressure hopper 9, a lock hopper 10 and the rotary feeder 12 and the like and the rotary feeder 12 has a coal discharge port divided into two coal discharging ports 50c and 50d so as to communicate with the respective coal conveying lines 29 and 29' and the coal conveying lines 30 and 30'.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
