PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a wood-plastic composite which can efficiently produce the composite excellent in dimensional stability in a short time without using a large apparatus and does not need environmental measures, and the wood-plastic composite produced by the method. ;SOLUTION: A cedar material of 150 mm × 50 mm × 15 mm, after being boiled at 90°C for 20 min in water, is immersed in a methyl-α-(hydroxymethyl) acrylate solution containing 0.5% of AIBN for 30 min so that the material is impregnated with AIBN (wherein azobisisobutylonitrile) and methyl-α-(hydroxymethyl)acrylate, and the material which is wrapped with aluminum foil, after being heated at 80°C for 2 hr by a dryer, is further heated at 100°C for 1 hr, so that methyl-α-(hydroxymethyl) acrylate is polymerized in the cedar material.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
