PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily retrieve an object group having selectable characteristics from the group of objects by hierarchically dividing the object of a group describable with attributes into object groups according to correspondent prescribed attributes. SOLUTION: For example, a group 10 consisting the object of 1000 persons is divided into six groups 11-16 according to the attributes such as male (m), female (f), high income (h), low income (l), city (c) and country site cs. Then, the quality of respective groups 11-16 (such as the ratio of smokers inside parenthesis, for example), is calculated and the groups 12, 14 and 15 having the best quality, namely, the quality of +0.03, +0.11 and 0 are extracted. Afterwards, among the primary groups 11-16, it is investigated which group has the value to be further divided into the groups of the next hierarchy, and the group having the value to be divided is divided into four groups according to the other attributes. For example, the group 11 is further divided into four groups according to the attributes such as the high income (h), low income (l), city (c) and country site cs different from the attribute of male (m).
