NEW MATERIAL:A salt of (S)-7-amino-5-azaspiro[2,4]heptane derivative expressed by the formula (Q is CH2 or CO; R is H or amino-protecting group). EXAMPLE:A D-tartaric acid salt of (S)-7-amino-5-benzyl-5-azaspiro[2, 4]heptane. USE:A raw material for antimicrobial compound. PREPARATION:A racemic modification of 7-amino-5-azaspiro[2,4]heptane derivative is dissolved in a proper solvent (e.g. methanol). The solution is mixed with a solution obtained by dissolving an optically active carboxylic acid (e.g. D-tartaric acid) in a solvent (e.g. methanol) to form a diastereomeric salt, which is then subjected to crystallization or the salt once produced is recrystallized from a proper solvent to provide the salt of compound expressed by the formula.
