Hierarchical type moving method of detection and device

PURPOSE: To attain weight processing without a multiplier which is much burden on the circuit configuration but used conventionally for a weighting section of a motion detection circuit used for each layer of the hierarchical motion detector. ;CONSTITUTION: An evaluation value detection section 20 obtains a motion quantity 21 and an evaluation value 22 from a coded image 13 and a reference image 14. A switch SW 1 is used to select an output from weight function generators w1-wk based on the motion quantity 21 and the selected weight function 46 and the evaluation value 22 are added by an adder 45 to obtain an evaluation value 59. A minimum evaluation value discrimination device 60 receiving a signal 58 being the weight 21 and the evaluation value 59 obtains a motion quantity 64. Since the weight processing is implemented by addition, the burden on the circuit is less and prescribed weighting is attained in each layer and the processing is saved as to a specific motion to improve the processing efficiency.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
