PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoder provided with a correction function of a bubble error included in a received thermometer code which improves an operating speed. SOLUTION: An encode section 101 detects a logic border of a thermometer code (e) to generate a digital signal of a gray code G. A gray binary conversion section 104 converts the gray code G outputted from the encode section 101 into a digital signal of a binary code B. The encode section 101 is provided with an error check section 102 that checks whether or not low-order bits and high-order bits of the gray code G have a specific relation to check an error code included in the gray code G and with an error correction section 103 that corrects an error code detected by the error check section 102.
