PURPOSE: To provide a method and device capable of magnetizing a chucking magnet so as to be uniform in its magnetic attraction even when there is some variation in height difference between a hub base and the chucking magnet in products. CONSTITUTION: The height difference between the hub base and the chucking magnet is measured, and magnetizing force of a magnetizing means 36 is changed in accordance with this difference so as to magnetize the chucking magnet. This device is provided with a size measuring means 25 for measuring the height difference between the hub base and the chucking magnet and a variable means for changing the magnetizing force from the magnetizing means 36 based on the measured value by the size measuring means 25. In the device, a distance variable means for changing a distance between the chucking magnet and the magnetizing means based on the measured value by the size measuring means 25 and a voltage control means for changing magnetizing force by controlling a voltage of a magnetizing power source may be provided.
