PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an anionic polymerization initiator system which can give a polymer having a specified structure at low temperatures in a well-controlled manner by using a combination of an initiator except an alkali metal amide with an alkali metal alcoholate such as lithium 2tetrahydrofuranyl methoxylate. ;SOLUTION: The acrylic monomer used is exemplified by methyl, ethyl or phenyl (meth)acrylate optionally used in combination with a copolymerizable vinyl aromatic monomer or the like. The alkali metal alcoholate is represented by formula I (wherein M is an alkali metal; R is a tetrahydrofuranyl represented by formula II (wherein Q is a 1-8 C alkyl, a 5-8 C cycloalkyl or a five- or six- membered heterocyclic ring substituted with a hetero-atom-containing five- to eight-membered heterocyclic rung or the like; R1 an R2 are each a 1-4 alkylene; an m is 0-3), dioxolanyl or the like).
