METHOD FOR DRIVING IN STEEL PIPE INSIDE LOW HEAD SPACE AND STEEL PIPE DRIVER FOR USE INSIDE LOW HEAD SPACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving in a steel pipe inside low head space and a steel pipe driver, whereby a steel pipe can be buried even if the space wherein the steel pipe can be handled is low in height. ;SOLUTION: A steel pipe driver 7 has a short leader 42 mounted on an upper revolving superstructure, and has a steel pipe rotating device mounted thereon in such a way that it is raised and lowered by a lifting device along the leader 42, the vertical width of the steel pipe rotating device being smaller than the length of the leader 42. A steel pipe loader 8 has an arm 16 mounted on the upper revolving superstructure of a self-traveing vehicle, and has a gripping device 29 mounted on the end of the arm 16 in such a way as to freely swing and turn. With the steel pipe rotating device 58 of the steel pipe driver 7 lowered to the bottom of the leader 42 or raised to the top, a steel pipe 3 gripped by the gripping device 29 of the steel pipe loader 7 is moved to the front of the leader 42 from one side or from in front and is set on another steel pipe 3 already embedded in the ground, to extend the same. As the steel pipe 3 is rotated by the steel pipe rotating device 58, the steel pipe rotating device 58 is lowered by the lifting device to drive the steel pipe 3 into the ground.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
