PREVENTION OF FOULING AND BELTLIKE UNIT FOR PREVENTING FOULING FOR SHIP OR IMMERSION STRUCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent fouling materials from sticking to the surface for preventing the fouling for a long period by a photocatalytic reaction of a TiO₂ substance at the time of irradiation of natural light or artificial light by magnetically attracting a beltlike unit for preventing the fouling prepared by supporting the TiO₂ substance onto the surface to the surface for preventing the fouling of a ship. ;SOLUTION: When a shell of a ship 1 is prepared from a ferromagnetic substance such as a steel material, a rolled beltlike unit 2 for preventing fouling obtained by supporting a TiO₂ substance in an exposed state to the surface and preferably winding the TiO₂ substance into the form of a roll is extended and magnetically attracted to the surface for preventing the fouling along, e.g. the waterline L of a surface 1a for preventing the fouling while rolling the beltlike unit 2 for preventing the fouling in an optional direction by utilizing a magnetic attracting force of a magnet or a magnetic beltlike unit. In the case of an immersion structure, the beltlike unit 2 for preventing the fouling is preferably helically wound around the surface of the immersion structure and attached thereto. Thereby, a photocatalytic reaction of the TiO₂ substance can semipermanently be produced to sustain antifouling effects for a long period.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
