DENITRIFICATION APPARATUS FOR NITRATE-CONTAINING LIQUID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute denitrification and reaeration, which are heretofore executed with separately installed two vessels, with one reaction vessel. ;SOLUTION: The reaction vessel 10 is internally partitioned by a partition wall 11 provided with an upward facing cylinder 12 projecting above a water surface to an upper chamber 13 and a lower chamber 14. Microorganism carriers 15 are charged into the upper chamber and an air diffuser 16 is arranged therein as an aerobic treatment section. Hydrogen donators and gelatinous microorganism carriers 20 are charged into the lower chamber and a raw water supplying pipe 21 is connected thereto as a denitrification section. The upper chamber is provided with an effluent section 18 connected with a drain pipe for a treated liquid by enclosing this section with a screen 17. The lower chamber is provided with an agitating device 22 which is rotated by a shaft 23 penetrated through the upward facing cylinder 12 of the partition wall from above to below.
