PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester fiber having a warmth-sensing effect excellent in laundering fastness and persistency by heat-treating a modified polyethylene terephthalate fiber in a liquid containing a specific warmth-sensing agent followed by the final setting. ;SOLUTION: Modified polyethylene terephthalate fiber, for example, modified by copolymerizing adipic acid or polyoxyalkylene glycol together, is soaked in a solution containing warmth-sensing agents mainly comprising a compound of the formula (X is O or NHCO; Y is H or OCH3; R is a 1-10C hydrocarbon) such as vanillyl butyl ether, vanillyl nonaamide, capsamine and/or a monocyclic monoterpene derivative, treated with heat and finally subjected to the final setting at below 130°C whereby the objective polyester fiber with excellent warmth-sensing effect is obtained that retains the warmth-sensing agent in 0.1-10 wt.% in the fiber after 10-times washing.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
