PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for removing a bird damage preventing device which can remove the wire under the live condition. ;SOLUTION: An engaging unit 23 is mounted to the end portion of a manipulating rod 21. The engaging unit 23 is composed of a first member 24 and a second member 25 rotating around the shaft 26, a receiving member 27 loaded to the first member 24, and a pin 29 loaded to the second member 25. When a manipulating rod 21 is held and a line member 33 is pulled, the pin 29 and receiving member 27 open. Therefore, the pin 29 is caused to enter a hole 16 of the stopper jig 14 to cancel the pulling condition of the line member 33, thereby entering the pin 29 into a small hole 30 of the receiving member 27. Next, the manipulating rod 21 is manipulated to rotate the stopper jig 24, thereby pushing a spring member 15 of the stopper jig 24 to the external surface of a pole 11 to open, and allowing the stopper jig 14 to be removed from the pole 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
