PURPOSE: To enhance functions by arranging in internal spaces such bodies as reducing the energy of water flow and promoting the inhabitation of aquatic organisms, the internal spaces being communicated with openings pointed to a body of water. ;CONSTITUTION: Ring-shaped bodies 6 such as used tires are arranged in the internal spaces 4 of a water-area construction consisting of wave-dissipating blocks 1, e.g. igloos. The energy of waves flowing in from openings 3 decreases as the waves are separated, segmented, and turned inside the internal spaces 4. In this case, the collision and friction between each ringshaped body 6 and the water flow, the rebounding of the water flow due to the elasticity of the ring-shaped bodies 6, the friction between each ring-shaped body 6 and the wall surfaces of the spaces 4, and the movement of the ring-shaped bodies 6 inside the chambers 4, etc., are combined in complex fashion to further reduce the energy of the waves with efficiency. Then air is trapped in the water by the contact between the chambers 4 and the ring-shaped bodies 6 and by the disturbing action of the ring-shaped bodies 6, thereby preventing the devastation of the shore and allowing aquatic organisms to cling to and inhabit the shore. Thus the wave dissipating function can be enhanced, the inhabitation of aquatic organisms is promoted, and waste can be utilized.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
