PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for producing a high-calorie gas, capable of readily removing a generated reaction heat and dealing with variation in load, by pretreating COG(coke oven gas) as a main raw material and a high-purity CO gas as an auxiliary material for a carbon source, introducing them to a single fixed bed isothermal reaction column and mathanizing the carbon source in the raw material. ;SOLUTION: COG as a main raw material and a high-purity CO gas as an auxiliary material for a carbon source obtained by denitrogenizing a converter gas are pretreated, introduced to a single fixed bed isothermal reaction column R-5A and the carbon source in the raw material is mathanized to give the objective high-calorie gas. Preferably the blending ratio of the high-purity CO gas as the auxiliary material is controlled corresponding to the change in the composition of COG as the main raw material so as to make the composition of the high-calorie gas produced constant.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
