PURPOSE: To provide a device capable of detecting ambient luminance equal to or above a specific value of luminance, for invalidating the automatic exposure control so as to give fixed diaphragm and fixed exposure time, and to ensure appropriate exposure of an object in the high luminance condition such as at a seaside scene. CONSTITUTION: In the high ambient luminance exceeding a set count of a counter 196, a flip-flop 197 whose state is varied, ejects pulse string signal from a scene light detecting circuit, to pass to the counter 190, while allows the output clock pulse column from a clock oscillator 178 to pass to the fixed exposure time counter 208, and the latter finally outputs the trailing end exposure signal in response thereto. In such a way, the exposing device generates the fixed effective diaphragm and the fixed exposure time when the ambient luminance is equal to or above the specified high ambient luminance. Then, the desired exposure excess is given in respect to the whole scene when the ambient luminance is equal to or above the high ambient luminance by this fixed effective diaphragm and the fixed exposure time. As a result, the object in the scene under extremely high ambient luminance such as the seaside scenery, a landscape of snow or the like, is appropriately exposed.
