PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain miniaturization and economization. ;SOLUTION: A delay device is provided with delay elements 3₁-3_k with different delay times (a₁T/2-a_kT/2) receiving an input optical signal from distribution terminals 2b₁-2b_k of a coupler 2, circulators 4₁-4_k whose 1st ports are connected to the delay elements 3₁-3_k, gates 5₁-5_k connecting to 2nd ports of the circulators 4₁-4_k or fixed filters or variable filters. The optical signal via the gates 5₁-5_k or fixed filters or variable filters is given to 3rd ports of the circulators 4₁-4_k and the optical signal outputted from the 3rd port to the 1st port are given to the distribution terminals 2b₁-2b_k of the coupler 2 via the delay elements 3₁-3_k, the optical signals are coupled in the coupler 2 and an output optical signal is obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
