PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove a flow meter to measure a flow rate of combustion air in each air box below a fire grate. ;SOLUTION: This method for estimating a fire grate combustion air flow rate in a refuse incinerator is applied for a refuse incinerator wherein at a process to convey charged refuse 7, in order, on a dry fire grate 3a, combustion fire grates 3b and 3c in an incinerator 1, by feeding combustion air to the fire grates 3a-3c from below through wind boxes 4a-4d, refuse conveyed over a combustion fire grate is incinerated. Each combustion air flow rate (QE) flowing in each wind box is determined, based on at least measurements of combustion air amounts (QS) fed in an incinerator through each wind box and the measurements of damper openings (DP) of dampers 10a-10d to regulate combustion air fed to the wind boxes.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
