PURPOSE:To stabilize an amide derivative, useful as a raw material for paper strength enhancer, for a long period of time and to prevent discoloration and deterioration in quality by adding an alcohol to an amide derivative. CONSTITUTION:A compound shown by formula (X is halogen; R1 is H or lower alkyl; R2 and R3 are alkyl; n is 1 or 2 such as N-(2,2dimethoxyethyl)-2- chloroacetamide, N-(2, 2-methoxyethyl)-2'-bromoacetamide is blended with =1 pt.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. compound shown by formula I of an alcohol (preferably 1-3C alcohol, especially methanol) to give a long-term stabilized composition.
