PURPOSE: To provide a zirconia-containing magnesia-alumina based spinel clinker capable of being adequately used for refractory application by a water system and a refractory obtained by using the same by effectively increasing thermal shock resistance while keeping excellent slag erosion resistance and favorably improving digestion resistance. ;CONSTITUTION: This spinel clinker is composed mainly of ZrO2, MgO and Al2O3 and has a chemical composition containing 95wt.% sum of the three components, 0.5-20wt.% ZrO-2, Al2O3 and MgO of quantities satisfying the following formula, 0(MgO content)-(0.07×ZrO2 content)-(Al2O3, content)/2.53)≤3, and contains zirconia crystal in magnesia alumina based spinel crystalline phase containing small quantity of periclase crystals.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
