PURPOSE:To enlarge the degree of freedom on the constitution of a file by indexing different kinds of data files which have been generated independently by a common file name, so that a procedure file uses this file name for its reproduction. CONSTITUTION:In a data file floppy 10, a video signal for showing one scene is recorded together with a name of its scene and a video signal mode. A series of sound signals related to a still image are recorded in the data file floppy 10 together with a file name and a sound signal mode. Each data file floppy 10 and procedure file floppy 16 are generated independently from each other, respectively, and data and a procedure are stored at random in an optical disk 14 of a a reproducing device 12. The reproducing device 12 reads out these information from the optical disk 14 in accordance with a procedure of the procedure file and reproduces it from a high quality (high definition) TV receiver 18 and a loudspeaker 20.
