PURPOSE:To enable object identification to be possible based upon distance and sensitivity information of which data can be easily produced, by making output of a ultrasonic sensor convert into distance signal upto an object and into sensitivity information showing strength of reflected ultrasonic wave. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic sensor 1 which receives reflected ultrasonic wave by an object X, and a converter 2 which converts the output of the sensor 1 into receiving sensitivity which shows distance upto the object X and also strength of the reflected ultrasonic wave, are provided. In this way, the distance from the sensor 1 to the object X and the sensitivity showing the strength of the reflected ultrasonic wave can be measured. As shown in that way, since, based on the distance and sensitivity information of which data can be easily produced, various kinds of objects can be easily identified, the whole constitution thereof becomes rather simple. Even if the distance between the sensor 1 and the object X varies, the object X can be identified easily, too.
