PURPOSE:To suppress the rounding of a signal waveform and to enable effective noise reduction by limiting variance of waveform data in a smoothing section N to K(sigman2)0.5 and then performing a moving average processing. CONSTITUTION:A sigman2 calculation part 2 calculates the dispersion sigman2 of noises in waveform data 1 applied to an input terminal IN. A waveform level difference calculation part 3 calculates the absolute value ¦X(i)-x(j)¦ of the level difference between (i)th waveform data (i) to be smoothed and N-1(=2m) waveform data x(j) from j=i-m to j=i+m centering on the x(i). A limit value calculation part 6 calculates a limit value K(sigman2)0.5 from K inputted from a K value input part 5 and the sigman2 obtained by the calculation part 2. Then a waveform level difference limitation part 7 compares this limit value with the absolute value ¦x(i)-x(j)¦ of the level difference between x(j) and x(i) obtained by the waveform level difference calculation part 4.
