PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a temperature sensitive sustained release base that has high safety, responses exactly to the change in body temperature and can be readily prepared by incorporating a methacrylic acid copolymer and a plasticizer thereto. ;SOLUTION: This temperature-sensitive sustained release base (a temperature- sensitive binary polymer system) is prepared by mixing an ethyl acrylate-methyl methacrylate-trimethylethylammonium methacrylate copolymer (AMMT) with polyethylene glycol (PEG) or mixing AMMT with triethyl citrate (TEC), dissolving the mixture in an organic solvent (for example, ethanol), distilling off the solvent by evaporation and crushing the dried polymer lumps or films. Said AMMT is a water-insoluble copolymer that comprises ethyl acrylate : methyl methacrylate : trimethylethylammonium methacrylate of 1:2:0.1 on the weight basis with a molecular weight of 15,000. The amount of plasticizer to be added to AMMT is adjusted to lower the glass transition point of AMMT down to a desired temperature.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
