PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the gas flow rate and the coke cooling effect and prevent the cracking, slipping out, and falling down of bricks by installing a curved- surface jack arch having the same circular center as that of a partition wall as the upper part of a suction zone opening. ;SOLUTION: The figure is an oblique view illustrating the upper part of a suction zone opening supported from the undeside by s support member. The sectional area of the opening is increased by installing a jack arch having a curved bottom surface and having the same circular center as that of a partition wall 7. A suction zone pillar part 8 is repaired as follows: after coke inside a coke dry-quenching apparatus is discharged, a work deck 12 is installed under the partition wall 7; a support member 13 comprising a jack 15, a rodlike support material 16, and a crown frame 17 is installed on the deck 12 by successively placing the jack 15, etc.; then the support member is jacked up to such a height that the upper surface of the crown frame 17 is brought into contact with the underside of the partition wall 7 and that the member 13 can bear the load of the partition wall 7; and the repair is done.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
