PURPOSE: To obtain fixed image quality by detecting local temperature and humidity and adjusting them to a value at which an image satisfying an exposure time value and/or an optical filter control value is reproduced. CONSTITUTION: An environmental condition at a position near the exposed part of an image forming sheet 10 is detected by a temperature detector 50 and a humidity detector 52. Digital signals obtained by amplifying input signal from the detectors 50 and 52 by amplifiers 60 and 64 and converting them by an analog/digital converter 62 are transmitted to a ROM 66. The ROM 6 selects the appropriate exposure time value and filter value corresponding to the numerical values of the temperature and the humidity from a table storing them. Next, a processor 68 gives an instruction to an exposure time control means 70 and a filter servo control means 72 in the midst of exposing the image forming sheet by using the exposure time value and the filter value selected. Thus, the uniform image equality is obtained regardless of actual ambient temperature and/or ambient humidity.
