PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently separating and purifying a perfluoroethyl iodide or hydrogen fluoride from a mixture containing the 1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoroethyl iodide and the hydrogen fluoride without carrying out a washing operation. ;SOLUTION: This method for separating and purifying 1,1,1,2,2-perfluoroethyl iodide or hydrogen fluoride comprises distilling a mixture containing the 1,1,1,2,2- pentafluoroethyl iodide and the hydrogen fluoride, after subjected to a liquid- liquid separation treatment in the case of a heterogeneous mixture or as such in the case of a homogeneous mixture, thus distilling out the azeotropic mixture of the 1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoroethyl iodide with the hydrogen fluoride and further obtaining the 1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoroethyl iodide or the hydrogen fluoride from the bottom.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
