PURPOSE: To produce a foamed concrete material having a uniform foam distribution without using a gas such as hydrogen gas, large-scale production facilities and a difficult process control. ;CONSTITUTION: A silica gel precursor 12 in a gelatinous state is uniformly dispersed into a slurried cement-containing composition 10. The dispersion is cured by a conventional procedure or cured with steam, the silica gel precursor 12 in a gelatinous state releases internal water, is dried and shrunk into silica gel particles 18 and foams 16 are formed corresponding to the shape before the shrinkage. Since a gas such as a hydrogen gas is not used, concentration of foams, deficiency in density of foams, etc., will not occur. A production device to be used is not complicated. Since the silica gel particles 18 are sealed in a foamed concrete material 14, the material 14 has humidity controlling function.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
