PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a no owner frame(NOF) that is circulated on a ring network without using a monitor node and a specific frame. ;SOLUTION: A communication protocol control section 7 of a data communication equipment stores a received frame to a transmission reception buffer 8 for reception processing. A line load fault detection section 6 monitors reception and processing of the buffer 8 and starts a NOF fault detection section 5 when a buffer busy state is detected. The NOF fault detection section 5 accumulates number of frames in the buffer 8 by SA(sender address) and discriminates frames of the SA in excess of a threshold level to be NOF. A communication protocol section 7 compares the SA of the informed NOF with the SA of the received frame and stops repeating the NOF when they are coincident and eliminates the NOF from the transmission line.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
