PURPOSE:To obtain the true dynamic characteristics of organism tissues by determining the effective vibration radius, elastic coefficient and viscosity coefficient for correction from the frequency characteristic of the mechanical impedance calculated based on the measured values of the driving force and acceleration in the time domain of a vibrator pressed and vibrated on the organism surface and the frequency characteristic of the mechanical impedance via a theoretical equation. CONSTITUTION:The driving force and acceleration of a vibrator pressed and vibrated on the organism surface are measured in the time domain. Values of the effective vibration radius (a), elastic coefficient mu1 and viscosity coefficient mu2 determined by the curve adaptation of the frequency characteristic curve of the mechanical impedance via a theoretical equation and the frequency characteristic curve based on the above measured values indicate changes corresponding to structural dependency, and fixed relations are recognized between the effective vibration radius (a) and other parameters. Correction factors of mu1, mu2 are stored as functions of the effective vibration radius (a), mu1, mu2 are corrected with the correction factors determined from the value of (a) obtained by adaptation, values of mu1, mu2 removed with the effect of structural dependency are obtained, and the true dynamic characteristics of organism tissues are obtained.
