PURPOSE:To effectively utilize natural resources by producing a water-retaining fertilizer or perfumery from defatted and washed fish scale having white transparent appearance and obtained by washing fish scale hitherto discarded as an industrial waste with a dilute alkaline water. CONSTITUTION:This water-retaining fertilizer or perfumery is composed of a defatted and washed scale having white transparent appearance and produced by washing fish scale with a dilute alkaline water. It has water-retainability, colorability and flavor-adsorptivity which are excellent characteristics of the defatted and washed scale.
