PURPOSE:To minimize the SSB phase noise by using an optical group delay time including a residual phase noise of an amplifier so as to design any of unknown value among an interval l of input and output transducers, a thickness (t) of a YIG thin film and a wavelength lambda. CONSTITUTION:An optimum group delay (taugs) of a magnetostatic wave is calculated according to equation I taking the effect of residual phase noise of an amplifier into account, and any unknown values among an interval l of input and output transducers 5a, 5b, a thickness (t) of a YIG thin film and a wavelength lambda of a propagated wave is decided. In equation I, L(f) is a residual phase noise [dBc/Hz] of an amplifier, F is a noise figure [dB] of the amplifier, Pin is a magnetostatic wave delay line input [dBm], DELTAH is magnetic resonance half value [Oe] of the YIG, Pn is a thermal noise level [dBm/Hz] and 76.4X106 is a proportional constant of a loss of a delay line and taug (group delay time of a magnetostatic wave, variable). Thus, the SSB phase noise is minimized.
