PURPOSE:To perform on-line inspection for X-ray transmitting inspection of the welded part of a fuel rod used in an atomic reactor by providing an X-ray transmission inspecting apparatus including an X-ray generator, a light emitting device and an image processing device. CONSTITUTION:X-rays are projected on the welded part of a fuel rod used in an atomic reactor which is a body to be inspected 10 from an X-ray generator. The X-rays are converted into visible light in a light emitting member 2. As the light emitting member 2, a plate of Gd2O2S:Tb or a plate of CsI:Na is used. Thus, the X rays which are projected on the body to be inspected 10 from the X-ray generator 1 can be efficiently converted into the visible light, and the sufficient amount of light can be obtained. Therefore, the transmitted image of the body to be inspected 10 obtained in said image processing device 3 has high resolution, and the X-ray transmission test of the welded part of the fuel rod can be performed accurately and positively.
