PURPOSE: To enable the free electron laser(FEL) oscillation to be stabilized by easily and effectively performing the Q swithcing operation between heating (hot) state and cooling (cold) state in a storage ring type electron laser emitter. ;CONSTITUTION: A pulse coil 7' of pulse magnetic field affording mechanism 7 as a Q switch having the least turns thereof is provided on the orbit of electron beams 2 to conduct a specific pulse current 9 by a pulse current carrying device 8 so that the axial core 2' of the electron beams 1 in an inserted light source 3 may be so slightly slipped by h out of an optical axis 4' of a light 4 to perform the Q switching operation for controlling the free electron laser oscillation requirements. Through these procedures, the repeated frequency of oscillation, the pulse width are stabilized to increase the peak output yet exhibiting a simple structure for facilitating the assembling maintenance.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
