PURPOSE: To diminish an ascorbate interference in a reagent system by adding a water insoluble cerium (IV) compound, particularly eliminating the ascorbate interference in urine for measuring a test solution by improving the measuring accuracy of glucose, etc. ;CONSTITUTION: This method for diminishing an ascorbate interference in a reagent system is to perform a measurement by adding a reagent containing a water insoluble cerium (IV) compound such as tris(trinitrate cerium) paraperiodate, bis(trinitrate cerium) chromate, cerium fluoride, cerium hydride, cerium iodate, etc., to a reagent system, particularly the reagent system using an oxidase/a peroxidase coupled reaction and also that involving an enzyme/a substrate reaction in which the substrate is sensitive to reductants such as the ascorbate, to eliminate the ascorbate interference for measuring a substance (e.g. glucose) in a test solution (e.g. urine) containing the ascorbate.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO
